Maryam Brown

Cat and Crow

This project shows a three-dimensional story as an artefact that can be read by multilingual people of all ages. It can also be used as a tool for explaining theory or helping those with learning difficulties. With no defined beginning or end, the artefact can be accessed at any angle, starting from any panel. This means the viewer can have their own interactive experience. There is an intended narrative from the artist’s perspective, however the viewer is free to explore the artefact without boundaries.

Research from narrative structures, comic language and colour theory techniques have been applied. The subconscious effect of these techniques could lead the viewer to the artist’s intended route.

Watercolour and Indian ink on 250gsm card.
