ACTBAD is a mobile app designed to support grassroot communities through utilising the visual culture. Focusing on key heritage factors such as venues and street art, ACTBAD is intended to encourage tourism within grassroot communities and promote the independent culture through the use of immersive content and augmented reality. Combining the visuals of street art with local venues, ACTBAD creates a narrative, telling a story and informing the user of current events and local business. In conjunction, ACTBAD also performs as an archive, preserving street art and ensuring key heritage murals are recorded and documented, building a legacy and informing future tenants.

 

ACTBAD was inspired by the lack of support and constant threats to independent culture within the Baltic Triangle. With three venues reluctantly having to close their doors by 2021 due to constant industrial developments, the local grassroot community needs support from a wider community to continue thriving and inspiring future generations.
